Meeting of the Global Geothermal Alliance

The second meeting of the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA) took place in Abu Dhabi on 18 January 2017 on the side lines of the World Future Energy Summit 2017. The event gathered a number of GGA Member countries and Partner institutions to take stock of the progress made to advance the GGA initiative and exchange views on the way forward.

The meeting also served as a platform for the launch of Geothermal Transparency Guide, a report developed by BBA, a member of Iceland Geothermal Cluster, that provides an overview of geothermal regulatory frameworks for geothermal exploration and exploitation in a wider effort to increase transparency of procedures governing geothermal project development.

Furthermore, the meeting offered an opportunity for improved communication and coordination within the constituency and synergies to be created between the regional components and with other geothermal programmes. In this context, two geothermal energy projects under implementation in Comoros and St. Kitts and Nevis have been presented and discussed.
