One of the areas of cooperation under the ASEAN-IRENA Memorandum of Understanding is to support the renewable energy policy and regulatory frameworks for ASEAN. As a kick-off activity to initiate implementation of the cooperation, IRENA and the ASEAN Centre for Energy plan to conduct a two-day workshop on Renewable Energy Policy Support Mechanisms. The workshop supports the efforts of ASEAN Member States to move towards competitive renewable energy markets,  and will provide a knowledge sharing platform among policy makers and related key experts of the region and beyond.

The 10 countries included in the regional initiative are: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Participants will include national experts from relevant renewable energy institutions, other countries from outside ASEAN (such as India and Denmark), and five independent experts on renewable energy policies.
